Older Apple iBook Computers — Not Recommended
Limited Display Capability:
Although you may be able to use the Mbox on the earlier iBook models (with
built-in handle), the maximum screen resolution of 800 x 600 of these
models will not allow the complete display of all Pro Tools functions.
For example, without a screen capable of 1024 x 768 resolution, you will
not be able to access or edit grid and nudge values in Pro Tools LE.
Limited USB Capability:
The following earlier iBook models only have one built-in USB port. The
addition of any USB devices such as a MIDI interface, USB computer keyboard,
or USB mouse along with the Mbox would require a powered USB hub, which
is an unsupported configuration.

Additional Requirements
Mac OS 9.2.2 recommended

- iBook 500 MHz and 600 MHz models require Mac OS 9.2.2 (included with iBook 500 and higher)
- OS X is not supported with Pro Tools
- Classic Mode under OS X is also not supported, you must choose Mac OS 9 as your startup system
External Floppy Diskette Drive
Although not required with Pro Tools installation, an external floppy diskette drive may be required for some Plug-Ins installations. The following external USB diskette drives are currently supported:
- Imation SuperDisk
- NewerTechnology uDrive

Apple's revised USB support allows for booting from a USB drive, therefore you should not boot up your system with an authorization disk inserted in the USB Drive.
MIDI:
Digidesign supports the following MIDI Interfaces for use with the Apple Titanium PowerBook G4 and Pro Tools® 5.1 or higher:
- Digidesign MIDI I/O (USB)
- MOTU Fastlane (USB)
- MIDIport32 2x2 (USB)
- AMT8 (USB/Serial)
Hard Drives — Audio Storage Requirements
Although recording and playback of up to 24 tracks may be possible using the internal drive in the iBook, a separate dedicated audio hard drive is highly recommended for maximum performance and track count.
