Using Non-ATTO ExpressPro-Tools formatted drives

Using Non-ATTO ExpressPro-Tools formatted drives

ATTO SCSI HBA Cards

If you are using an ATTO SCSI HBA card and wish to only use drives which are formatted with a utility other than ExpressPro-Tools (such as FWB HD Toolkit), you should choose not to install the ATTO ExpressPro-Tools v2.3.2 extension. It is highly recommended that you use only one disk utility for all audio drives in your system. If you must use a mixture of drives formatted with different disk utilities, follow this procedure:

  1. Launch the ATTO ExpressPro-Tools v2.3.2 application
  2. Double-click on a drive to bring up the "Device Information" window
  3. Check the "Inhibit Driver Loading" box for the appropriate SCSI IDs on that channel (or use the "Apply to all" button to apply this setting to all SCSI IDs on that channel)
  4. Click "OK" to close the "Device Information" window
  5. Install the ATTO ExpressPro-Tools v2.3.2 INIT in the Extensions folder. This can be done by launching the ATTO ExpressPro-Tools v2.3.2 Installer
  6. Restart your computer

Your drives will now be controlled by the ATTO ExpressPro-Tools v2.3.2 driver. This procedure will not place the ATTO driver on your hard disks or overwrite any existing drivers on your hard disks. This procedure will not work with software RAID systems.

Note: Mac OS 9.2 requires ATTO ExpressPro-Tools v2.7 or higher, available at: http://www.attotech.com/software/

Adaptec SCSI HBA Cards

If you are using an Adaptec SCSI HBA card it is highly recommended that you initialize all of your audio drives with the same disk utility.
