FilmFrame™ v2.0 — Pro Tools 5.x & Mac OS 9 Requirements
24P and 25P support with FilmFrame, Pro Tools and AVoption|XL
With AVoption|XL and FilmFrame installed, Pro Tools becomes the only audio workstation capable of importing and playing back both 24P and 25P picture media. Progressive scan technology enables multi-format delivery from a single 24P/25P source, to meet multi-format, multi-version opportunities and challenges presented by DTV and HDTV.
Requirements for 24P/25P support:
- Digidesign approved Macintosh Pro Tools|24 MIX or Pro Tools|HD system
- Mac OS 9.1, 9.2, 9.2.1 or 9.2.2
- 256 MB Total System RAM (Recommended: 100 MB RAM allocated to the Pro Tools application)
- AVoption|XL
- Pro Tools 5.1.3 for MIX systems, or Pro Tools 5.3.1 for HD systems
- FilmFrame v2.0 Key Disk
- Digidesign approved floppy drive (for installation of Key Disk authorization)
- 25P only supported on Macintosh-based Pro Tools|HD systems with Pro Tools 5.3.1 software

24P vs. 24 fps:
AVoption can play 24 frames-per-second video clips created on an Avid ABVB system, but these clips are limited to single-field resolutions and display a more "compressed" image. AVoption|XL can play 24P video clips created on Avid Meridien systems. 24P video clips selectively blend both fields and can display an uncompressed image. FilmFrame 2.0 is required for 24 fps playback on AVoption and for 24P playback on AVoption|XL.
