HDx Record/Playback Option & Pro Tools TDM System Requirements for Windows XP

This TDM-based option lets you record or play back up to 128 channels (using the maximum two HDx cards) of audio directly from D-Show with a Pro Tools|HD system for Windows XP or Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger"

Digidesign Hardware Supplied with HDx Option

  • HDx TDM Option Card

Up to two HDx cards can be installed in the D-Show FOH Rack.

HDx cards and an FWx card cannot be installed simultaneously.

Digidesign Software Compatibility

  • Pro Tools HD 7 for Windows XP
  • Pro Tools TDM 6.9.1 or 6.9.3 for Windows XP
  • Pro Tools software will not work without Digidesign hardware

Recommended Desktop Models & Requirements

These workstation-class computers are qualified to provide full Pro Tools|HD Accel and Pro Tools|HD functionality, including support for ICON, AVoption|V10, and Avid Mojo:

These desktop-class computers are qualified for 128 tracks @48kHz sample rate with Pro Tools|HD Accel and Pro Tools|HD systems without ICON or Avid video options:

Supported Laptop Configurations

The following notebook computers were tested and qualified with Pro Tools|HD and Pro Tools HD 7.0:

  • Dell Inspiron 8500 (Pentium 4-M)
  • HP Compaq Business Notebook nx8000

With the following CardBus PCI Expansion Chassis:

  • Magma 4-slot model CB4DRQ (current), CB4DRQ-D1 (discontinued)
  • Magma 2-Slot model CB264 (64-bit/33Mhz 2 Slot CardBus to PCI expansion)
  • Magma 2-Slot model CB232 (current), CB232-D1 (discontinued) (both 32-bit/33Mhz 2 Slot CardBus to PCI expansion)

Maximum & Minimum Computer Specification Guidelines, Known Issues & Incompatibilities

CPUs adhering to the Minimum Computer Specification Guidelines may be able to provide full track count performance, however they cannot be guaranteed to do so.

Digidesign's recommendations for maximum performance:

System Software

  • Windows XP Professional or Home Edition (Professional required for Avid Mojo, AVoption|V10, Avid Unity)
  • Not Supported:
    • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
    • Windows XP Media Center Edition
  • Pro Tools TDM 6.9.1/6.9.3 and Pro Tools HD 7 are qualified with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP1 not tested)
  • If you are updating from SP1 to SP2, please read the following beforehand to help insure a smooth transition:
  • Pro Tools 6 and Pro Tools HD 7 software can't be installed or used on systems running Windows 98, Me, 2000, NT, 95, or 3.1
  • Windows XP Settings & Requirements

System RAM Requirements

  • 512 MB RAM minimum required
  • 1 GB (1024 MB) or more highly recommended

1 GB or more RAM recommended for sessions with:

  • Large amounts of audio, large DSP engines, high edit density, or large DigiBase databases
  • A large number of installed plug-ins
  • Options like MachineControl and DigiTranslator

2 GB (2048 MB) minimum required with the following options:

  • D-Control
  • AVoption|V10
  • Avid Mojo

More RAM increases overall system and Pro Tools performance.

Additional Requirements

iLok Required for Pro Tools HD 7

Monitor

  • Color monitor required
  • Minimum resolution of 1024 x 768
  • 17" or larger recommended if using external monitor

Storage

Apple QuickTime 6.5 or Higher Recommended

  • Available at www.apple.com/quicktime
  • Required only on systems using video
  • AGP or PCIe (PCI Express) graphics card with 16 MB or more video RAM required for movie playback
  • Known Issue: Apple QuickTime 7 is currently not supported with the Digidesign WaveDriver on Windows XP
