Important Information About Pro Tools LE 6.4 Plug-In Updates

Except where noted, plug-ins on this page are included on the Pro Tools LE 6.4 Update CDs, and the Pro Tools LE 6.4 and LE CDs included with upgrades and new purchases.

In order to greatly reduce the size of the web downloads, these optional plug-ins are NOT INCLUDED with the Pro Tools LE 6.4 downloads. All Digidesign and Digi-distributed plug-ins must be updated in order to work with Pro Tools LE 6.4.

After running the Pro Tools 6.4 LE web update, you must download updates for any of these plug-ins that you own and install them after installing Pro Tools BEFORE launching Pro Tools. Otherwise an error and possible crash will occur on Pro Tools launch.

Pro Tools LE 6.4 Download & Information

System Compatibility:

  • These plug-ins will work on systems with Pro Tools LE 6.0 through 6.4 installed

Installation:

  • Download the correct plug-in for your iLok authorization
  • Each download is a self-contained installer

Documentation:

  • Installed in your Applications/Digidesign/Documentation folder on your hard drive
  • The Digidesign Plug-Ins Guide and the DigiRack Plug-Ins Guide are available for download in the Support > Tech Support > Technical Document Library
  • Translated versions of these documents are available on the right side of the Technical Document Library and newer Pro Tools CDs

Pro Tools LE 6.4 — Optional Digidesign and Digi-Distributed Plug-In Updates

The following plug-ins require an iLok authorization, and the current iLok Drivers. The iLok drivers are installed by the Pro Tools LE 6.4 installers.

DV Toolkit for Pro Tools LE 6.4

The update for DV Toolkit owners is installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools 6.4 Web Installer or the Pro Tools 6.4 CD:

  1. Double-click on the "Install Pro Tools" or "Install Pro Tools Web" application
  2. Put a check mark in the box next to "DV Toolkit"
  3. Follow the prompts in installer application

The update for DigiTranslator owners is installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools 6.4 Web Installer or the Pro Tools 6.4 CD:

MP3 Option

MP3 Option for Pro Tools LE 6.4

The update for MP3 Option owners is installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools LE 6.4 Web Installer or the Pro Tools 6.4 CD:

  1. Double-click on the "Install Pro Tools LE" application
  2. Put a check mark in the box next to "Update MP3 Codec" on Windows, or "MP3 Codec 1.3 Update" on Mac
  3. Follow the prompts in the installer application

The next time in Pro Tools that you select a portion of audio in a session and choose to bounce to disk and export as MP3 audio, you will be prompted for your authorization code from your MP3 Option receipt from the DigiStore. (if you have previously authorized MP3 Option on your hard drive, you may not be prompted to re-authorize)

If you run into installation problems, you may have to delete ALL files from your Codecs/MP3 folder, then run the installer again. The MP3demo.dll file and the MP3.dll file cannot both be in the Codecs/MP3 folder. MP3 Option is available for purchase from the DigiStore. If you do not own MP3 Option, you can try the 30 day demo version available from the Pro Tools installer.

Legacy MIDI Controllers for Pro Tools 6.4

The following control surfaces were not tested with Pro Tools LE 6.4, and therefore are not officially supported. The Pro Tools LE version 6.4 CDs contain an "unsupported" folder with the following control surface personality files:

  • CM Labs MotorMix™
  • JL Cooper CS-10™ MIDI series
  • Mackie Designs HUI™
  • Peavy PC-1600™

  • Mac downloads require Stuffit Expander 5.1.2 or higher (included with Mac OS X)
  • Download Aladdin's FREE Stuffit Expander for Mac
  • Windows ZIP (.zip) format downloads should be "Saved to Disk" first, rather than opened on the internet. These can be expanded on Windows XP systems by right-clicking on the downloaded files and choosing "Open".
