Legacy MIDI Controllers for Pro Tools 7

The following control surfaces were not tested with Pro Tools 7, and therefore are not officially supported. The Pro Tools HD and LE 7 CDs contain an "Unsupported Software" folder with the following control surface personality files:

  • JL Cooper CS-10™ MIDI series
  • JL Cooper MCS 3000 series MCS-Panner™
  • Peavy PC-1600™

To use these files, download and place the personality file for your MIDI Controller in the following location:

On Mac OS X:

  • Hard Drive:\Applications\Digidesign\Pro Tools\Controllers

On Windows XP:

  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Controllers

Included on the Pro Tools FREE for Windows 98/Me CD ROM, but not included with the Pro Tools FREE for Windows 98/Me downloadable installer.

Includes MIDI Controller Personalities, Pro Tools 5.0 MIDI Controllers Guide, and Read Me with installation instructions.

MIDI Controller Personalities are files that allow Pro Tools to communicate with MIDI controllers such as the Mackie HUI™, any of the JL Cooper CS-10™ series, the Peavey PC-1600™, the Penny & Giles MM- 16™/DC-16™, and CM Labs Motor Mix™.

  • Mac downloads require Stuffit Expander 5.1.2 or higher (included with Mac OS X)
  • Download Aladdin's FREE Stuffit Expander for Mac
  • Windows ZIP (.zip) format downloads should be "Saved to Disk" first, rather than opened on the internet. These can be expanded on Windows XP systems by right-clicking on the downloaded files and choosing "Open".
