Pro Tools® 5.1.3 for Macintosh TDM Mac OS 9 Systems Pro Tools 5.1.3 is not a general upgrade, but rather is a version with enhanced features for specific users. The new features are powerful, but Pro Tools 5.1.3 is only useful if you exchange files with Avid workstations and use DigiTranslator, AVoption, AVoption|XL, or Avid Unity MediaNetwork shared storage systems. There are no audio enhancements from previous versions. If you are not one of these users, there is no reason to upgrade to Pro Tools 5.1.3 from either 5.1.1 or 5.2. For more information on "What's New in Pro Tools 5.1.3", see the Pro Tools 5.1.3 Addendum in the Technical Document Library section of Support/Technical Support on the website, and the Pro Tools 5.1.3 announcement in the News section. DigiTranslator 2.0 functionality in Pro Tools 5.1.3 requires the separate purchase of DigiTranslator, or an upgrade from DigiTranslator version 1.0. Please Contact Digidesign Customer Service for upgrade information. Pro Tools 5.2 gives users DigiStudio online collaboration capabilities. Pro Tools 5.1.3's unique features include enhancements for AV and Unity users. For this reason, if you require all of the above functionality, you'll need to install both versions of Pro Tools software. Both versions of the applications can reside on the same hard drive, and either 5.2 or 5.1.3 can be launched in order to provide the features unique to that version. If you are a user of either Pro Tools 5.2 or 5.1.3 and decide to add the other version, that new version will be installed in the Pro Tools application folder within the Digidesign folder. Both Pro Tools 5.2 and 5.1.3 will have the version number included in the application title so you can easily identify and open the appropriate version for your session. To avoid losing important information, you must keep in mind a couple of simple procedures for alternating between versions of the Pro Tools application. For more details on using both of these versions of Pro Tools, please see below. Running Pro Tools 5.1.3 and Pro Tools 5.2 on the Same System Pro Tools 5.1.3 and 5.2 each contain unique features.
