Third-Party MIDI Hardware Pro Tools FREE Third-Party MIDI Interfaces Both USB and serial MIDI interfaces work effectively with Pro Tools FREE. Serial MIDI interfaces require either a Mac serial port or a qualified modem-to-serial port adapter, such as the GeeThree Stealth Port or Griffin gPort or g4Port installed in the modem port (thereby not using a PCI slot). When using the GeeThree products with Mac OS 9.0.4, version 1.0.3 or higher of the Stealth Port extension is required, available here: http://www.geethree.com/download.html Third-Party MIDI Control Surfaces MIDI Controller Personalities are files that allow Pro Tools to communicate with MIDI controllers such as the Mackie HUI, any of the JL Cooper CS-10 series, the Peavey PC-1600, the Penny & Giles MM- 16/DC-16, and CM Labs Motor Mix. Note: Profiles for Motor Mix and other MIDI control surfaces are included in the CD-ROM version of Pro Tools FREE for Mac and Window and the Mac downloadable installer. To download profiles for the Windows web installer version, see below. While these other control surfaces may work with Pro Tools FREE, only Motor Mix has been fully tested by Digidesign with Pro Tools FREE software. For information about CM Labs Motor Mix, visit the Digidesign Development Partner section at www.digidevelopers.com For more information on using control surfaces with Pro Tools, see the MIDI Control Surfaces Guide in the Technical Document Library
