About These Updates

Pro Tools TDM 6.2r2 provides support for Digidesign Pro Tools|HD cards on Apple Power Mac G5 computers. Pro Tools TDM 6.2r2 is a free update for all Pro Tools|HD 6.x users.

Compatibility

The Pro Tools 6.2r2.1 Update provides support for the following configurations:

• Pro Tools|HD and HD Accel on a Power Mac G5 (2 GHz, 1.8 GHz, or 1.6 GHz) running Mac OS X 10.2.7 or 10.2.8.

Supported Configuration Summary

• Power Mac G5: 2 GHz, 1.8 GHz, and 1.6 GHz models
• Pro Tools Systems: Pro Tools|HD and Pro Tools|HD Accel
• Mac OS X: Mac OS X 10.2.7 and 10.2.8 only
• Chassis: Magma 64-bit, 33 MHz chassis (additional chassis support is expected in a subsequent release)
• Storage Formats: FireWire only (SCSI and SATA support are expected in a subsequent release)
• Not Yet Supported: Unity MediaNetwork, AVoption|XL

Who Should Use These Updates?

The Pro Tools 6.2r2.1 update should be used only by:

• Pro Tools|HD or Pro Tools|HD Accel users who are running Pro Tools 6.2r2 on an Apple Power Mac G5 (2 GHz model) running Mac OS X 10.2.7 or 10.2.8.
• Pro Tools|HD or Pro Tools|HD Accel users who get a “Hardware Not Installed” dialog when launching Pro Tools 6.2r2 on an Apple Power Mac G5 (1.8 GHz or 1.6 GHz models) running Mac OS X 10.2.7 or 10.2.8.

We recommend that only the Pro Tools users specified above use this update. This updater will not run on a Power Mac G4.

The Pro Tools TDM 6.1 to 6.2 r2 updater requires a Pro Tools system with Pro Tools TDM 6.1 already installed. Pro Tools 6.0 to 6.1 Update

The Pro Tools TDM 6.2 to 6.2 r2 updater requires a Pro Tools system with Pro Tools TDM 6.2 already installed.

The Pro Tools TDM 6.2r2 to 6.2 r2.1 updater requires a Pro Tools system with Pro Tools TDM 6.2r2 already installed.

Your registered Pro Tools TDM 6.x authorization code is required to download. This can be found in one of the following locations:

• Inside the front cover of your Upgrading to Pro Tools 6.x or What's New in Pro Tools 6.x booklet included with updates and upgrades.

For best results, use the latest version of Internet Explorer for your operating system. Other browsers, such as Apple's Safari, may not work properly with the secure forms required for this download. We have had reports of problems accessing the downloads from behind some firewalls or when using Airport wireless devices. If you encounter difficulty accessing the downloads under those circumstances, please try a different method of connecting to the internet.

Which Installer Should I download?

Apple Power Mac G5 1.6GHz or 1.8GHz model running Mac OS X 10.2.7 or 10.2.8

• If you have Pro Tools TDM 6.1 download the "Pro Tools TDM 6.1 to 6.2 r2 Updater".
• If you have Pro Tools TDM 6.2 download the "Pro Tools 6.2 to 6.2 r2 Updater".
• If you have Pro Tools TDM 6.1 for the Japanese OS, download the "Pro Tools TDM 6.1 to 6.2 r2 Japanese OS Updater".
• If you have Pro Tools TDM 6.2 for the Japanese OS, download the "Pro Tools 6.2 to 6.2 r2 Japanese OS Updater".

Apple Power Mac G5 Dual 2GHz model running Mac OS X 10.2.7 or 10.2.8

• If you have Pro Tools TDM 6.1 download the "Pro Tools TDM 6.1 to 6.2 r2 Updater".
• If you have Pro Tools TDM 6.2 download the "Pro Tools 6.2 to 6.2 r2 Updater".
• If you have Pro Tools TDM 6.1 for the Japanese OS, download the "Pro Tools TDM 6.1 to 6.2 r2 Japanese OS Updater".
• If you have Pro Tools TDM 6.2 for the Japanese OS, download the "Pro Tools 6.2 to 6.2 r2 Japanese OS Updater".

After you have updated to Pro Tools 6.2r2 or Pro Tools 6.2r2 for Japanese OS, then download and install the Pro Tools 6.2r2.1 Updater. This updater will update either Pro Tools 6.2r2 or Pro Tools 6.2r2 for Japanese OS, depending on which OS you boot in. Read Me document in both English and Japanese included with the download.

"Hardware not installed" on Apple Power Mac G5 1.6 GHz or 1.8 GHz model running Mac OS X 10.2.7

If you encounter a problem during Pro Tools launch on Apple 1.8 GHz or 1.6 GHz Power Mac G5s, where the dialog "Pro Tools is either not installed or in use by another program" displays, Digidesign recommends Pro Tools 6.2r2.1. If you are not encountering Digidesign Pro Tools hardware recognition problems on the these models, then you should continue using Pro Tools 6.2r2.
