Q. What plug-ins does Pro Tools 6.1 work with?
In the Digidesign Products Section there
are subsections for each Pro Tools system, with system details and
specifications. For each system there is also a link to the Plug-In
Finder for that system. Pro Tools 6.1 TDM systems work with TDM,
HTDM, RTAS and AudioSuite plug-ins for Mac OS X and Windwows XP.
Pro Tools LE 6.1 systems work with RTAS and AudioSuite plug-ins
for Mac OS X and Windwows XP.
In the Digidesign Compatibility Documents
there is a link under each system to a page for DigiRack
Plug-Ins & Optional Digidesign Software with information
on the included DigiRack plug-ins, links to Plug-In Finders for
that system, and information on which plug-in formats are compatible
with that system.
The Pro Tools
6 for OS X Plug-In Compatibility Reference in the Developers
section of the website also lists Mac OS X compatible plug-ins.
Q. I already have Pro Tools 6.0.x. Do I have
to buy an upgrade to Pro Tools 6.1?
A. No. Pro Tools 6.1 is a free update for all Pro Tools 6.0.x users
on Mac OS X. If you already have Pro Tools 6.0 already installed
on your system, you just need to Download
the Pro Tools 6.1 Update.
Or if you prefer, you can get the free 6.0 to 6.1 Mac OS X update
CD from your local Digidesign Dealer,
which also requires prior ownership and installation of Pro Tools
6.0. (6.0 to 6.1 update CDs are not available directly from Digidesign)
Q. What if I don't have Pro Tools 6.0?
A. Pro Tools 6.1 upgrades are available from the online DigiStore
and your local Digidesign Dealer.
For information and pricing, see the following:
International Customers: To avoid the delays of shipping and possible
extra customs fees in your country, many customers may prefer to
order from their nearest Digidesign
Dealer
Q. What operating systems do the upgrades work
with?
A. Pro Tools 6.1 upgrades are cross-platform, meaning that Pro
Tools 6.1 installer CDs for both Mac OS X and Windows XP are included
with each Pro Tools TDM 6.1 and Pro Tools LE 6.1 upgrade purchase.
Check the Compatibility Documents for requirements
for your system.
Q. What version of Pro Tools do I need to have
installed for the Pro Tools upgrades?
A. Unlike the web updaters, all Pro Tools 6.1 upgrades purchased
include full installers, so that you can do a "clean install"
without a previous Pro Tools installation.
Q. Will I be able to Download the Pro Tools
6.1 Upgrades?
A. No, only the Pro Tools TDM 6.0 to 6.1 and Pro Tools LE 6.0 to
6.1 updaters for previous installations
of Pro Tools 6.0 are available for download. The Pro Tools 6.1 Upgrades
for Mac OS X and Windows XP are full installers, which do not utilize
existing Pro Tools installations. Because of their size, upgrades
will only be available on CD.
