Additional Pro Tools 5.3.1r2 Download

After downloading and installing Pro Tools 5.3.1 either from these pages or the Pro Tools 5.3.1 CD, you may need to also download and install the Pro Tools 5.3.1r2 Update for 5.3.1 Pro Tools|HD Mac. This version contains fixes for the following problems found in Pro Tools TDM 5.3.1 for Macintosh:

  • Assorted issues when using PRE in conjunction with ProControl
  • The Feet.Frames ruler was incorrectly calculated when session frame rate was set to 29.97
  • Inserting silence into a MIDI track did not always displace automation data accordingly
  • DirectConnect plug-ins or applications like Soft SampleCell and Native Instruments did not work with the 192 Digital I/O
  • If you have cookies enabled in your browser preferences, you will only have to fill out the download form once to download 5.3.1 & 5.3.1r2
  • This 5.3.1r2 release has been fully qualified by Digidesign, and should be used by all Pro Tools|HD users on Macintosh-based systems, though if you do not use PRE, MIDI I/O, 192 Digital I/O or the Feet.Frames ruler, you will gain no advantage by updating from version 5.3.1 to 5.3.1r2.

Updating Your Plug-Ins

The 5.3.1 Updater will automatically install updated versions of all Digidesign plug-ins, and move any plug-ins that it replaces to the "Obsoleted Digidesign Software" folder on your system hard drive

The following plug-ins that are installed by the updater are only compatible with floppy disk authorizations:

  • DPP-1
  • Focusrite d2
  • Focusrite d3
  • D-Fi bundle (LoFi, SciFi, RectiFi, and VariFi)
  • D-fx bundle (Chorus, Flanger, Multi-Tap Delay, Ping-Pong Delay)
  • Drawmer Dynamics
  • Maxim
  • SoundReplacer
  • SurroundScope

If you were using HDpack iLok authorized versions of these plug-ins, you will need to do one of the following:

1 - Download Pro Tools 5.3.1 HDpack iLok versions of DPP-1, Focusrite d2, D-Fi, or Maxim:

2 - Or you can re-install Pro Tools 5.3 iLok versions from your "Obsoleted Digidesign Software" folder on your hard drive:

  • Remove the floppy authorized version of the above plug-ins from your System Folder/DAE Folder/Plug-ins Folder
  • Go to your "Obsoleted Digidesign Software" folder on your system hard drive to find your previous iLok authorized version of these plug-ins
  • Copy the previous iLok authorized version of these plug-ins to your System Folder/DAE Folder/Plug-ins Folder

Either of these methods will work with Pro Tools 5.3.1. These plug-ins will require the iLok included with your Pro Tools HD core system.

If you were using 2001 Q3 and Q4 MIXpack iLok authorized versions of these plug-ins, you will need to do one of the following:

1 - Run the "iLok MIXpack Installer" on your Pro Tools 5.3 CD for iLok versions of DPP-1, Focusrite d2, or Maxim:

  • Recent purchasers of Pro Tools|24 Mix systems who received the Focusrite d2, Drawmer Dynamics, and Digidesign DPP-1 as a part of the 2001 Q3 and Q4 MIXpack promotions should run the "iLok MIXpack Installer" on their Pro Tools 5.3 CD for information on the installation process that will preserve their iLok authorizations for these versions of the plug-ins.

These plug-ins will require the iLok included with your MIXpack.
