Third-Party Video Capture Cards
- Playback within Pro Tools is only supported via the computer
monitor. Hardware Codecs are not supported. Use a third party
application and card to capture video and import the video into
Pro Tools. For the best performance use Avid CODEC DV files created
by Avid Express DV.

 Windows XP Service Pack 2 is not qualified with Pro Tools LE 6.1.1- Windows XP Settings & Requirements
- Total System RAM: 384 MB minimum, 512 MB (or higher) highly
recommended
- Additional RAM may be required for simultaneous use with MIDI
sequencers
- Additional RAM is recommended for better video playback performance
- Intel chipset (with Intel Processors, use with Pentium 4 models
requires Intel 845, Intel 850 or Intel 860 chipsets)
- Pentium 4 systems with HyperThreading technology must have "Intel
HyperThreading" in the system BIOS disabled.

Dual Monitor Systems
Pro Tools does not fully support true Windows "Separate Resolution"
video modes for Windows systems with more than one VGA output. On
systems with a dual port VGA card, the QuickTime Movie window displays
an empty white box instead of the QuickTime Movie. However, Pro
Tools fully supports dual monitor modes where Display Settings are
routed to multiple monitors by the Windows operating system to create
a single desktop. Consult your video card driver’s documentation
on how to use dual monitor VGA cards without using "Separate Resolution"
modes.
Audiomedia III & Pro Tools LE 6.4
Q: Can I use Pro Tools LE 6.4 LE software with
an Audiomedia III card?
A: No. The Pro Tools LE 6.4 release and beyond will not work with
Audiomedia III and ToolBox systems, which have been discontinued
for some time. The previously released Pro Tools LE Pro Tools LE
6.1.1 for Windows XP was the last version that worked with Audiomedia
III cards. Audiomedia III owners wishing to use newer versions of
Pro Tools software can take advantage of Digidesign's Hardware
Exchange Program to Digi 002, Digi 002 Rack, or Pro Tools|HD
systems.

Maximum Performance
Guidelines
To provide full 32-track, 24-bit performance on Pro Tools LE with
high edit densities and the maximum number of Plug-Ins follow these
guidelines:
- Intel Pentium 4 or Xeon with Intel 845, Intel 850 or Intel
860 chipset
- AMD Athlon XP or Thunderbird with pure VIA chipset
- Performance and the number of Plug-Ins will vary from PC to
PC; however, faster processor speeds produce better results.
- Total System RAM: 384 MB minimum, 512 MB (or higher) highly
recommended
- File System (all drives): FAT32 or NTFS
- Also note that we have seen better performance on computers
that have less components attached and non-custom versions of
the BIOS or Windows XP.
Known Incompatibilities
Caution - ToolBox/Audiomedia III based systems are NOT supported
on the following systems or systems with the following components:
- Computers with motherboards containing SiS (Silicon Integrated
Systems) chipsets
- There have been reported compatibility problems with Pro Tools and the new 925 and 925p chipsets. Please check to make sure that the computer you are considering purchasing does not contain these chipsets, or any other chipsets which have not been officially qualified by Digidesign.
- Hewlett Packard Pavillion line of computers
- AMD K6, K6-2 or K6-III, K7 processor based computers (however
newer AMD Athlon processors are supported - see Supported CPU
Models & Speeds)
- Pentium I or Pentium II processor based computers
- Computers with motherboards containing mixed chipsets from AMD
plus VIA combined
- "ESS Solo-1 PCI AudioDrive" Sound, video and game controller.
This device can be disabled from the "Device Manager" in the "System"
Control Panel.
- SampleCell II PCI cards and SampleCell Editor are not compatible
with Windows XP
- Asante Network cards are not compatible with Control 24 on Windows
XP
- The Digidesign WaveDriver does not support Avid Xpress DV or certain other DirectSound
applications that require advanced DirectSound capabilities
- Some HP Pavilion models do not meet the minimum requirements
as listed in these compatibilitiy documents. Before purchasing
these or any computer, please carefully go over these documents
and the exact specifications of the computer to make certain
that all of the compatibility guidelines have been met.
