Important Information About These Pro Tools Plug-In Updates

Except where noted, plug-ins on this page are included on the Pro Tools 6.2.3 and 6.4 TDM and LE Update CDs, and the Pro Tools 6.2.3 and 6.4 TDM and LE CDs included with upgrades and new purchases.

In order to greatly reduce the size of the web downloads, these optional plug-ins are NOT INCLUDED with the Pro Tools 6.2.3 TDM or 6.4 LE downloads. All Digidesign and Digi-distributed plug-ins must be updated in order to work with Pro Tools 6.2.3 or 6.4 and Mac OS X 10.3.2 (Panther)

After running the Pro Tools LE 6.4 LE or Pro Tools TDM 6.2.3 web update, you must download updates for any of these plug-ins that you own and install them after installing Pro Tools BEFORE launching Pro Tools. Otherwise an error and possible crash will occur on Pro Tools launch:

Warning: Updating Pace-Wrapped Plug-Ins

Due to a recently discovered PACE copy protection bug, some users may experience instability and/or crashes when launching Pro Tools, opening a session, or dismissing a trial-period dialog if any Pace-wrapped third party plug-ins are installed. The fix for this bug is in the latest PACE drivers included and installed automatically within the Pro Tools software installer. Updates to all plug-ins are also necessary to prevent instability and/or crashes. All plug-ins supplied with the Pro Tools 6.2.3 installer have been fixed. To determine which plug-ins are affected, we have included a utility which will scan your Plug-Ins folder and list all plug-ins that need to be updated. To use this utility, just launch the "Digidesign Plug-In Validator" application located in your Pro Tools Utilities folder. If any of your non-Digidesign plug-ins have not been updated, they will be listed in the display window. Please visit the Web site for the manufacturer of any affected plug-ins and download the update (if available), or ask the manufacturer when one will be available. Even if you do not have updates for all your plug-ins, instability will only occur immediately after adding or removing a plug-in from your Pro Tools Plug-Ins folder. After the first crash and subsequent reboot, you should not see any further problems, unless you then add or remove plug-ins from the Plug-Ins folder.

System Compatibility:

  • Pro Tools 6.2.3 for TDM Systems on Mac OS X 10.3.2 (Panther)
  • Pro Tools LE 6.4 for LE Systems on Mac OS X 10.3.2 (Panther)

Note: while these plug-ins should also work with Pro Tools 6.2.2, we highly recommend that all 6.2.2 TDM users update to Pro Tools 6.2.3, and all Pro Tools LE users update to Pro Tools LE 6.4.

Installation:

  • Download the correct plug-in for your iLok authorization
  • Each download is a self-contained installer

Documentation:

  • Installed in your Applications/Digidesign/Documentation folder on your hard drive
  • The Digidesign Plug-Ins Guide and the DigiRack Plug-Ins Guide are available for download in the Support > Tech Support > Technical Document Library
  • Translated versions of these documents are available on the right side of the Technical Document Library and newer Pro Tools CDs

Pro Tools TDM 6.2.3 — Optional Digidesign and Digi-Distributed Plug-In Updates for Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther)

The following plug-ins require an iLok authorization, and the latest iLok Drivers.

If you are downloading these plug-ins to transfer to another computer that is NOT connected to the internet, it is important that you also Download the latest iLok Drivers from the PACE website and install them on your Pro Tools system, or these plug-ins may not work.

MP3 Option software

The update for MP3 Option owners is installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools 6.2.3 Web Installer or the Pro Tools 6.2.3 CD:

  1. Double-click on the "Install Pro Tools" or "Install Pro Tools Web" application
  2. Put a check mark in the box next to "MP3 Codec 1.3 Update"
  3. Follow the prompts in installer application

The next time in Pro Tools that you select a portion of audio in a session and choose to bounce to disk and export as MP3 audio, you will be prompted for your authorization code from your MP3 Option receipt from the DigiStore. (if you have previously authorized MP3 Option on your hard drive, you may not be prompted to re-authorize)

If you run into installation problems, you may have to delete ALL files from your Codecs/MP3 folder, then run the installer again. The MP3demo.dll file and the MP3.dll file cannot both be in the Codecs/MP3 folder. MP3 Option is available for purchase from the DigiStore. If you do not own MP3 Option, you can try the 30 day demo version available from the Pro Tools installer.
